Cheap and Easy Ways to Make a Room Cosy

For me, winter is all about being cosy. There is nothing better than snuggling under a warm blanket on a cold day wearing my favourite PJ’s and slippers, cup of tea in hand and settling down to get on with some work or to simply watch a film. I love home decor and the theme for my room is definitely ‘comfort.’ I want to feel relaxed and as well as warm, and now I want to share my top tips on creating the perfect, snug atmosphere in your own space.

Fairy lights are a must!

Fairy lights aren’t just for kids, they’re the key to making things cosy, and quite simply they’re just plain cute! I’ve got multiple sets of lights in my room and this allows me to set my ideal lighting when I’m in need of some relaxation. All of my lights are also battery operated which is great, although I do get through my fair share of  batteries! You can get multicoloured lights, as well as either a warm tone or a blue/cold tone. For me, the plain warm tones are the ultimate fairy lights for a cosy vibe, but this is all down to preference. Another bonus is that if you opt for battery operated fairy lights, you’ll have the freedom to place the lights anywhere you’d like. You can tie them around your bed frame, lie them across a shelf, or simple just hang them over objects in your room.

Comfort is key

Now whatever you do to relax, comfort is priority. That’s why I say, the more cushions the merrier! My bed is covered in cushions and I love all the different textures and colours my cushions and they’re also fab at bring a room together!

Keep warm and carry on

I don’t know about you, but I love cold weather purely so I can wrap myself up like a burrito in a comfy blanket. Throws and blankets are great for just chucking on your bed or sofa. Not only do they act as a convenient source of comfort, but also add a hint of detail to your room. This mixed with the cushions above will honestly take you as their prisoner, you will never want to leave!

Add a scent

Yankee Candle, £23.99 each

I LOVE a good candle. I have way too many and I am not stopping anytime soon. I have a really sensitive noise, which IS a thing apparently, so I am on a mission to fill my home with luscious scents. As you can see, I’ve already got my Christmas scents out and I’m not ashamed to say that this is only a small portion of my collection. A candle or two is the perfect addition to a cosy room, as not only does it fill the room with a lovely fragrance, but I find the flickering flame really relaxing. Obviously it isn’t a good idea to light a candle if you’re planning on falling asleep, so that’s one downside, but overall candles are my perfect escape.

Light it up

Now I know I already have my fairy lights, but a little lamp is still an essential. I have stuck to a warm tone again and I love this lamp in particular. The pattern it gives off is so pretty and detailed, and even when the light is switched off it still adds something to the room. This lamp is a few years old so I couldn’t find the exact price, but I have seen plenty that are similar in the stores recently.

And there we have it, my top tips to get a snugly atmosphere. I hope you enjoyed reading my post and if you have any tips, or are planning on trying any of these out, then let me know below 🙂
