The world is a very negative place at the best of times, but throw in a pandemic and it’s enough to bring even the happiest person back down to earth. But as the saying goes, happiness makes the world go round. It relieves stress and just makes everything seem good again. After all, isn’t happiness all anyone ever wants?
So while happiness seems to be in short supply, I thought I would countdown the top 10 things that bring a smile to my face, in the hopes that it makes everyone else happy too, Cheesiness at its best people!
Are you a fellow blogger? Here are my top tips on how to remain happy while blogging!
When my cat runs towards me – pretty much anything my cat does makes me smile, but when she does a little run my heart just melts! Say if we’re both in the garden and I call her name, she does this little excited run with hopping paws included and it’s just the cutest thing!
When I find a discount code online – I don’t mean to sound like an extreme couponer but I love a bargain, especially an unexpected one! Once I’ve filled my online shopping cart to compacity, I usually do a quick Google for a discount code to make the damage to my bank account more bearable, and I love it when I find a good’en!
Sunny days in the garden – I’m not green figured in the slightest but I love a hot Summer’s day in my garden! My family and I love the sun, so when it finally makes an appearance in the UK, we take full advantage and spend the entire day sunbathing, listening to music, and eating a lot of ice lollies.
Re-watching the same sitcoms – I love a sitcom and I’m always binge-watching shows I’ve already seen. I think they comfort me as I know nothing overly bad is going to happen and they’re just feel-good shows to have on in the background while I’m getting on with things. My top three sitcoms of all time are; Friends, Gavin & Stacey, and The Big Bang Theory. If you haven’t seen them then I’m sorry but you’re missing out!
Evening beach walks – Last year, my boyfriend and I had a week away in Devon and it was so lovely! Every evening we would drive to a new beach, park up and take a walk along the shore as the sun was setting. It was a gorgeous way to spend a golden hour each day.
Candles – I think I got my obsession with candles from my Mum. I don’t know why but I just love them! I love collecting them, I love arranging them and dotting them around the house, and of course, they smell amazing! If you want to know my top tips on caring for your candles, check out my post on the topic here.
Greeting cards – I love a card, I find any excuse to hand them out. I always put a lot of thought into finding the perfect card for somebody based on their likes and interests or on an inside joke we share. I also love receiving them and I never have the heart to throw them out, therefore my collection is getting a bit out of hand!
Disneyland videos – I am a massive Disney lover and am obsessed with Disneyland. But when I’m not exploring the parks I like to get my DLP fix on social media. One thing I love is watching little kids meet their heroes and favourite characters. I love their reaction to seeing their favourite characters in person and I love how the characters embrace the situation and make a fuss over them. Honestly, it brings a tear to my eye!
Fluffy bedding – Whoever invented fluffy bedding is a genius! I brought a teddy bear fleece bedding set and I loved it so much that I had to buy a second just so that I could change my bed regularly as I never wanted to take the fluffiness away! It’s just so warm and cosy, it’s honestly the softest thing ever. As you can see from the image I used for this post, my cat also loves it! The one I have is from Next and I have two sets in two different colours; grey and pink. I strongly recommend!
When things work out for the best – I am such a worrier and can spend days if not weeks worrying about an upcoming situation, for example, a meeting at work or something. But once the meeting is over and it went well, I get the biggest sense of relief and I feel like I can take on anything life throws at me. Once I’m on that high there’s no coming down for a while!
I think it’s pretty clear from the list that the little things really do make me the happiest girl, but hey ho! What makes you guys happy? Why not write me a list in the comments and be sure to keep smiling!
